Biography

Petros was born in Athens and started his music studies at the age of seven at Moschato Conservatory. After finishing high school, he was accepted at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, from where he obtained his Integrated Master’s degree “Hons” in Music Studies (pathway: Music technology) in 2016.

He has obtained diplomas in Harmony (2010), Counterpoint (2013) and Fugue (2016) from Estia Technis Conservatory in Greece, under the supervision of Eustathios Christelis, all of them with an excellent mark.

He studied for 10 years under Aikaterini Papadakou and in 2013 he graduated from the conservatory with the grade “Excellent & first prize of excellence” for his piano final exam, the highest mark that can be obtained in Greece. After his graduation, he studied for 3 years with the famous Greek soloist and conductor Dimitris Toufexis, whom he considers his mentor. He completed his master studies at HKU Utrechts Conservatorium in the class of Henry Kelder, by giving his final exam in May 2019, performing Rachmaninoff’s 3rd piano concerto with the conservatory orchestra. At the same school, he has also studied jazz piano with Gé Bijvoet.

Petros has performed in numerous countries throughout Europe, including Greece, Germany, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and Romania. He has participated in seminars and masterclasses by personalities such as Daniel Blumenthal, David Lively, Konstantinos Loukos, Martyn van den Hoek, Peter Frankl, Niall Brown, Isabelle Trüb, David Korevaar, Wolfram Schmitt-Leonardy and many more. He has performed in festivals such as the Zaltbommel festival, Grachtenfestival, Havik concerten, Musical May Festival and others.

Conductors he has collaborated with include Vladimiros Symeonidis, Dimitris Toufexis, Panos Vlachos and Rolf Buijs. He has also performed with the Syggelaki Conservatory Orchestra, the Amersfoort Youth Orchestra and the Utrecht Conservatory Orchestra. Furthermore, Petros has won the first prize in several piano and chamber music competitions such as the 5th Panhellenic Maria Chairogiorgou Sigara Competition (1st Prize), 7th Panhellenic Competition for young pianists (1st Prize), 3rd Unesco piano Competition (1st Prize), 4th Panhellenic Competition of Larisa Conservatory (1st Prize) and Storioni Willem Twee Concours (3rd place with the SFP trio).

Finally, Petros is a founding member of Robert quintet, an ensemble dedicated to performing chamber music by heart. With this ensemble, he has performed in prestigious halls throughout the Netherlands such as TivoliVredenburg, and appeared live on NPO Radio 4.

Currently, he resides in Utrecht, the Netherlands, where he is an active performer and teacher.
